Recently, decided that it was time i replaced the exhausts on my cars, for the GTV i was just going with standard replacement parts from CatsDirect and for the spider i decided that stainless steel was the way to go!
So! today i went to "Powerflow" after wasting about 2hrs at "Longlife" my experience of Longlife is as another member found in another thread. The guy talked the talk on the phone but! after taking the day of work in order to get this done! I arrived and they where all a bunch of Chav teenagers!
Now im not against teenagers but when this young fella showed me exhaust tips that i normally see on Barryboy cars, my inner voice was crying No! No! walk away!
Then he tried to tell me that the Ragazzon section was rubbish and i should forget and get a "Longlife" middle section and remove all boxes!
I did mention that i did not want "Boy Racer" rather i wanted a sporty sound - Rasp!
So! i decided that enough was enough and went to Powerflow, different setup, guy who had been doing it 20years, decided to weld the ragazzon to a new powerflow rear section, 4 hrs and i watched them fabricate the section.
Asked them to remove the big box and only have a small box just b4 the exhaust tip. I noticed that the silencer welded-in was rather large, but thought that they knew what they are doing. My request was for a single silencer rear section and for there to be no boom!
Picked car up, exhaust looked the business, and the fella told me to drive and get back to him. Drove the car 60miles motorway and at any speed upto 60mph, there is the awful drone
Have just called the guys and explained the drone was unbearable so! we have decided to go back next week and try and sort something out!?
My exhaust is standard front upto middle section, then a Ragazzon middle section that replicates the original and then a Powerflow rear section, with one silencer (Slightly smaller than big silencer removed just before exhaust tip.
My symptons are boom at any speed upto 60mph and the resonance appears to be from back section.
I personally reckon that the rear silencer is too large, but! the fella reckons anything smaller will make it worse!?
So he's to contact Powerflow headquarters and ill call him next week. Any advice fellas from this end as to how i need to change system? As im also being told that it could be the ragazzon middle section, but! i don't see how it can be?
