Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much, been on a few trips away.. which of course is good for testing!
And, absolutely, YES - the difference is easily noticeable!
The first thing I immediately noticed was a bit more torque across the whole range - mainly this means that you don't have to work at or worry about keeping the TS on-cam, something I've done almost religiously before to avoid lacklustre response. Note that I'm not specifically talking about maximum torque here - you get more for your foot at any throttle, it's a pleasant surprise.
Secondly, my TS seems smoother - it hasn't skipped a beat in the whole 620 miles I've done since changing ECU. Idling is perfect, and a little lower (better London mpg perhaps?) and the power curve is absolutely smooth and continuous. Engine braking seems marginally stronger than before, I'm not sure why this might be.
Thirdly, once you've marvelled at the unexpected niceties above, full-throttle power is definitely better too, don't worry! The change isn't significant enough to feel the 'G' difference as such, but you'll notice that the revs rise a bit faster than you expect and you're going faster earlier than you know you would have been before. The power increase isn't peaky - the increase in torque is small but available across the whole range - the engine hasn't turned into some sort of uneven monster by dumping all it's improvement in one place.
I wouldn't say that the engine sounds significantly different, but I have a Ragazzon unsilenced exhaust replacing the rearmost 2 boxes and with that louder engine note, I have noticed that it sounds slightly louder (at full throttle) but slightly smoother than before. No-one but you is going to notice the aural change however.
In short, whilst the Squadra chip won't turn your TS into a lightweight V6-eater, it seems to give you just that little bit more in every single respect with apparently no downsides - I thoroughly recommend it. If you're lusting for a V6 it's not going to solve your thirst for power, but if you've had your TS a while and intend to keep it a while more, getting one of these chips will give you a mid-ownership boost with very little risk or compromise.
Big BIG thank you to Symon for the tip-off!
P.S. As the Squadra's designed for RON98 fuels or higher I've also switched to V-Power (the only, financial, downside). Whilst there's an enthusiastic thread about that fuel running at the moment I have tried a couple of tankfuls before and found the difference minimal (although present). That may, to a very very small extent, be responsible for some of the improvements above!
P.P.S. Sorry if I've rambled, haven't time tonight to go back and censor myself!!
