GTV V6 24v Cup miss fireing ???

Hello All
The engine light on my GTV V6 24v Cup dash came on for a few days but has gone out again, but still i got it checked out. The daignostic machine came up with that it was miss fireing on 3 cylinders. with the highest reading being 12 and the lowest of 3...but bloke at garage did not know what this ment!!!!!!! he said that the coils would probably need changing then started blagh blagh about how must work and cost etc etc.....does any one have any thoughts??? a mate has sugested just change the plugs and see how things go.

Could be any number of things (the joys of fuel injection).

Something as simple as a split in an air intake hose right up to a new engine sensor or coil pack.

Although OBD is meant to be the be all and end all - really it is pretty poor. You can't really diagnose anything from the message 'misfire'.

I am waiting for engine electronics to become more intelligent.

You'll probably find on a V6 it's the rear bank plugs at fault, a few unscrupuus garages I know wont change them on the service due to the time and effort involved, a few of the cars I've done have been like this, new plugs in 4,5 and 6 and the old shabby ones in 1,2 and 3 still.

If you like I'll plug it into my stuff and get the fault nailed.
