i havent read most of the thread so im jumping in at the deep end,but i read Niges point on this page about the carbon footprint being big because of making a new car and then transportation to the country...etc...
Well has anyone looked at the Cuban carbon footprint?didnt they have to use their cars for years on end and manufacture spares by themselves?surelly someone should compare the fact that they havent had new cars for years and proove that keping cars on the road is not only cleaner to the environment but also makes economic sence. Not sure if im just talking crap but just a though!!
Anyway, the scrapage scheme is all rubbish! We are in recession and feeling the pinch when suddenly the government says £2k off new cars,We all feel good because we see a bargain, but manfacturers put up prices or discuntinue their own offers which they keep a secret to themselves,So theoretically we are spending the same cash on the car! but the people who go out to buy new cars now and get tempted into the false bargain are probably people who had old bangers and couldnt afford a new car in the first place! so we are worse off than when we started!!!
