I have a 96 GTV 2.0ts in flint grey (almost black) and it is a mgic colour.
The earlier red GTVs and 145/146 all had trouble with red, most of them are now pink.
I also have a 96 GTV2.0ts in Green. Now here is the odd thing, the green GTV is a complete rust bucket, from Scotland, (I bought it to provide a spare engine) but the black one, from South Wales, is rust free. So check very carefully for rust especially the front and rear inner wings and the cill jacking points, also check the carpets in the rear for damp, the seals round the front windows can leak and the water stays hidden in the carpet rotting the car from the inside out.
But like everyone else has said, go for it. The 2.0 handles way better than the 3.0, its much better balanced, its more economical it sounds just as good and its just a hoot, you wont beleive how hoonishly fast you can go round corners.
Brilliant cars and cheap as chips even with all the stamps. Try a cheap one and if you like it use it for spares for a newer one, you will need them and they are way expensive.
