I did my first ever track day on Saturday! And in my 03 GTV 3.0 V6 24V
It was an all Alfa Romeo track day too!
It was held at Zwartkops Raceway in Pretoria, South Africa. It's not the longest track in the world, but it's still fun! A bunch of SA AlfaOwner.com guys made a day out of it - check the thread (with pics) here - http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/south...your-pics.html (ARCOP Track Day @ Zwartkops! Post your pics!)
It was a brilliant experience, and it's sure to be repeated in the future!
I had never been on the track before, although I've watched many races there! I went out without any instruction on the lines, braking points etc, but I thought 'What the hell! I'll figure it out!'
Found that the wear on my tyres and brakes were much less than I expected them it to be, and had no problems with the car whatsoever!
Only thing that hindered me was my brake-fluid. It cooked the brakes in 5 laps! What racing brake-fluid would you suggest? What are the drawbacks of using it on the road? Are there any?
Here is a little on-board video of me driving in my first session (didn't take more during the day
) These laps were only my 4th, 5th and 6th real laps around the track!
Tell me what you think!
