Steering column movement - GTV

Hi all,

I've got an slight steering column issue on my GTV - if I hold the steering wheel at the 3 o'clock/9 o'clock position I can rock it from side to side slightly. The steering wheel and the upper column shroud move but as far as I can tell nothing lower than this. Anyone experienced anything similar?

As for reasons why - for the first few months of ownership I had terrible brake judder which I've cured by changing the discs and pads, but I wonder if this has shaken anything loose??

To investigate further I guess I need to remove the steering wheel, to allow me to remove the this a DIY-possible job, considering there is an airbag involved??

Cheers in anticipation,
