I had loads of problems with my bonnet when I first got my GTV.
The garage that sold me the car had fitted a replacement bonnet and they hadn't done a very good job of fitting it properly. (in fact it was a bodge)
When I first got the car the bonnet would open itself when driving along, plus the safety catch was not catching, so I was very lucky not to have the bonnet fly open.
I then had a fiddle with the 2 catches. If you slacken the nut at the bottom of the pin they move side to side. If you look at the wire that goes across the location hole, you need to move the bonnet pin in relation to the catch wire. Towards it if the bonnet is coming open, and away from it if the bonnet won't open.
It might take a few attempts to get it right.
Pushing on the bonnet whilst the release is pulled should help, but don't go too mad as the bonnet can crack.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
