Hi guys, wondering if anyone can shed any light on this:
Few days ago I try to wind down the driver's window and get nothing. Initially the passenger's window still works, but after some fiddling with the window buttons this stops working too. I give up and carry on driving.
When I pull up I can hear an intermittant clicking in the driver's door, about once every five seconds. Killing the ignition and removing the key does not stop this, so I drive home quick and disconnect the battery.
Upon reconnection the clicking has stopped, but immediately starts again when I try the window again, and requires another disconnect to stop it.
I turn to this trusty forum, and do a search and find people with similar problems. Apparently on 2000 and later cars there is a microswitch which closes when the window is fully up. If this does not close properly it can reproduce my symptoms.
Today I have removed the door card, located said microswitch and loosened the cam next to it enough that I can click it on and off a few times as advised on here. Have tightened the cam back up so that it closes the switch properly.
Status now is that the passenger's window works again, and trying the driver's window does not result in permanent clicking, so that's some progress.
However, the driver's window will still not go down. When I press the window switch I can hear a click from inside the door, but no movement. When I release the switch I get another click. It like a motor is trying to turn but can't.
Some other threads on here mention removing the "regulator" which cured the problem, but I've no idea what this is, or where it's located in the door. Can anyone advise on a next step?
