Getting the right gear is never easy and is always a ‘trade off’ against how many times you will use it.
That said, if you do go down the car ramp path then they can be very useful. To do that job I would reverse up the ramps, then raise the front by trolley jacks onto axle stands. Once you’re there it will be very stable.
Many major motor spares retailers sell brake pipes already finished to the correct length with the right end fittings (although not sure about Alfa’s). the hardest part of the job is separating the fittings which if they’ve been on there for a number of years and gone rusty, can be a real game. You will need a set of quality flare nut spanners.
All in all, if you’ve never replaced a brake pipe, and haven’t the tools, you may be safer just paying the bill instead.
