Spider rear electric roof gap problem-please help
Hi, I'm a motor dealer now specialising in Spiders & a few GTVs but please don't let that put you off!? On a 98 Spider the rear passenger side seal sits approx 1cm above the hood cover. It would appear to have been like this for some time as the paintwork on the passenger side of hood cover doesn't have any sealing marks. The car has been repainted at some point. I would ask the last owner but unfortunately he died last year!
I've checked the main frame mounting, changed the motor on that side, adjusted the 'prong' & put spacers between the frame(I even tried bending the forward arm) but it still doesn't seal tight at the side but is tight at the back. All my other Spiders roofs 'jump' at the back upon finishing the closing cycle. What causes this & why? This one did until I tried all of my adjustments but now only jumps when the ignition is turned off. I have reset it numerous times by manually opening the roof before closing it electrically. The red light next to the button now stays on when closed(& the windows don't close automatically anymore) but it does go out when the roof is fully open/down. It will seal if after the automatic/centre button operation has finished(light still on though) the ignition is turned off & back on & I use the 'manual' closing button until tight again. I don't think just a reset will cure the gapping as it was working correctly before but still had the gap. Any suggestions please?
