new tyres needed - any advice?

Hi all,

I'm needing a new set of tyres for the GTV pretty soon and was wondering if anyone has any opinions for the best option?

I will really need to weight up boring stuff like tyre life / mileage and cost as opposed to just the best sticky ones... as I do loads of miles and have wedding to pay for in 4 months (gulp!)

I currently have Goodyear Eagle F1's in 16in wheels (these are standard tyres + wheels I think?) - been pretty pleased with them although they are quite noisy and found a bit slippy recently in wet + frosty conditions.. but that's probably because they are worn..

cheers for any opinions.

I've recently put new Goodyear Eagle F1's on my GTV and am really pleased with the results. They also won the EVO magazine best tyre award so must be a pretty sound buy?

I had Goodyear Eagle Tourers on my GTV when I bought it but when the time to change came I went for Toyo Proxes T1-S. They have been on my car for well over six months now and the wear is minimal. They grip well in both the wet and dry and as an added bonus they look pretty neat too. At 70 per corner they were a bargain and I doubt very much I will use another brand for some time to come. I believe they are standard equipment on all TVRs and on the Mitsi Evo as well so that must say something.....

Goodyear F1s. I'm on my third set. Got approx 12K miles out of the others.

thanks for the responses

I think i might look into the Toyo ones - as its a bit of a sting shelling out over 400 quid for a set of tyres (prices i've been quoted for the Goodyears..) they have lasted pretty well though - about 20k so far..

anyone know of a good place to get them cheap (either brand) ?

Recently fitted Eagle F1 G3-D3 to the spider. Not too expensive, look good and stick well.

I go for Pirelli P zeros all round, they seem to last OK...and if you shop around you'll get them for about 105 each.

Anyone got any comments on winter equipment - wheels or tyres ?

My instruction book says 6.5 J x 16 and 205 / 45.
