If you're not wanting to chop bits of your car out or construct shelves / units, then simply run some decent AUX cables from a good HU to the boot. Connect an amp of your choice and run a 8" / 10" bass box from that. No need to fix or build stuff - unless you want to of course - and the battery placement makes the job easy.
The 'underseat' subs are not bad but for the money they're not great either. They can't hit the lower sub frequencies and the output is poor compared to proper setups (the Alpine one linked above produces around 50-70w RMS constant, which is rubbish to be honest).
Regarding brand: Alpine make excellent head units but again, for the money, their speakers aren't outstanding. For the doors, as John147 has said, Focal are very good, as are Infinity. For serious bass in the boot you can't go wrong with Rockford Fosgate subs.
With reliability will ultimately come monotony.....
