I did a Search on here and found out most of the stuff but there are a few more I have. I just purchased a 2.0L Twinspark Lusso Spider (99 T Plate). It overheated and im in the process of Replacing the rad and 'stat. There are no signs of Headgasket stuff (no mayo, no oil in header etc). It was on the original rad as all the jubilee clips were the factory type. So its off the road at the moment, but will be back! (hopefully the new rad will solve the problem!)
Anyways, the car has 115k on the clock, but it is really not bad for that many miles! The previous owner said that she was sure the cambelt was done but i dont actually have any proof! so once the new rad is in this will be next on the list. On with my questions
The car doesnt have a spare wheel, just some gunk and a compressor, ive read many threads about this but I want to get a spare wheel, I cant seem to find one on ebay so what other alfa carries the same spare?
Keys - I only have 2 keys, is this correct? I know with FIAT there is a large red key you have to keep safer than your first born?
Oil - I want to change its oil and filters after the cambelt, but which oil is good? I have always used 10-40 oil im my previous cars and found it to work quite well even with high miles. having never owned a car like this what thickness is best? Similarly with spark plugs, which are the best brand for the spider?
When removing the Rad there seemed to be quite a thick wire that was hanging and resting on the outside of the plastic wheel arch protector (behind the bumper, kind of!), it had a connector on the end of this but was sealed off (no pins showing) - any ideads what this is for?
power steering bottle - there seemed to be a small length of pipe connected to the cap but it doesnt go anywhere, just hands loose, is this suposed to be like this?
Similarly - there is the same but longer piece of rubber tube coming off the header tank cap that just disappears behind the washer bottle ?
Finally - At the moment i have removed the old rad, removed the rust from the bar that is bolted along the bottom of the slam panel and hamerited it alond with the fan surround, awaiting my rad and stat. when I refit and put coolant in is it just the bleed screw on top of the rad i use to remove air?
would this be the right procedure? refit rad, stat etc tighten up everything, remove bleed screw - refill coolent until max. start engine until reaches temp (pray the fan kicks in) then when coolent comes out of the bleed screw refit?
Sorry for all the questions! It seems like a nice place here
