Guys, I replaced an ABS unit on my '96 spider, as it was registering a fault. However, the light is still on. I've been told this maybe because the the EMS needs to be attached to a diagnostic which will reset the error, and therefore turn the light off.
Can I by-pass this by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so. A fiat coupe friend of mine said they do this after fixing a problem, to reset the lights on the dashboard. However, it feels to me like the ABS still isn't working (which is a bit worrying). This leads me to the question, if the light is still on does the EMS prevent the ABS from working?
So I guess my question is, if I disconnect the battery will this save me having to pay £30 to get an Alfa specialist to do it for me? Or, will i cause damage because by doing this the fault is lost from the memory of the ABS, so that if I go to specialist it can't be reset properly!
Hope that makes sense..
Could really do with some help on this one guys..
All the best
