Yes, it was Automeo. I was hesitant to mention the name as I know a couple of people who swear by him (I've also spoken to several who don't!) so I guess it's a case of 'Take as you find'.
He may well be an extremely competent mechanic, apparently he's the ex Alfa Owners Club chairman or something, but some of what he told me seemed rather contradictory; e.g. he recommends some all singing, all dancing synthetic racing oil at £45 + VAT a sump full, yet also recommends it is changed (by him) every 6 months. I thought one of the advantages of fully synthetic was that it kept it's properties better than semi or mineral oil.
Anyway, there are people who have actually used Automeo rather than just chatted to the bloke like I have, who highly recommend Automeo and there must be a good reason for that. Sadly, I have a mortgage, two other cars, and a large tab at the local pub to deal with every month so I'll be looking for a cheaper place to carry out the work on my Alfa!
