Stop the noise!

My 1996 Alfa Twinspark has many small problems that don't really bother me but it's developed a droning sound from one of the wheels. After all these months I can't even figure out which wheel it is...the noise is all around me! But it's definitly a rubbing sound as I'm driving. Had all the bairings replaced, brakes were checked to. I spent ages sound proofing everything inside, you can't hear a single rattle now but the droning is now obviously more noticeable! I try listening to music but then the sound of my new Supersprint is replaced by Roxy Music and Wings...which is never a good thing.

Please help me. I can hear it even when I'm not driving now!

Are your Tyres wearing low?. My last 156 developed such a loud droning noise that I had the Wheel Bearings changed. It didn't help but changing the front Michelins to some new Pirelis did.

When I got the car it had just had pretty much brand new Avons fitted. I might try changing the wheels around and see if that makes any difference whatsoever. My mechanic (one of my dad's mates) used to work for Brabham F1 so he's bloody good and he wreckons it's the tyres to but I thought that was a bit of a fob off! A few others have said that to so maybe your right! I'll try that first and get back to you. Cheers for the advice!
