Alfadiag troubles!!

I know several of you have AlfaDiag which i have recently purchased too along with the lead with a 16 pin plug and also an adaptor to fit a 3 pin connection on the earlier cars. Having got the disc i cannot seem to download it properly or get it to work on my laptop, can anyone just run through the proceedure and give a few handy tips at the same time.

I am no expert, but the software should install like any other bit of software. You also need to intall the correct drivers inc a virtual com port.

Did the demo software work for you?

I'm afriad that the Alfadiag help isn't very helpful on these sort of things but here's a few suggestions:
You should have a CD with the cable, did you install that first?
Are you running Windows XP? or Vista. There is a known issue with Vista to do with admin rights.
I guess you have the software key. Did that go in OK? Worth double checking.
Are you sure with version of the ECU you have? Alfadiag doesn't detect the ECU, you have to tell it and it won't tell you if you've selected the wrong one.
