DIY is it possible??????

Ive recently been told by an Alfa specialist that my rear suspension bushes are 'shot to s*%t' (for want of a better phrase!!). He's quoted me 400 but i can get the parts from Ebspares for 195. However, this is going to require my old man getting his hands dirty under the car. Has anyone else attempted to replace the trailing arm, swinging arm and top link bushes??? If so, is it relatively easy and will he require any specialist tools to do the job?
Ive been advised by EBspares that to remove the existing bushes it is better to cut them out rather than use a press?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Do a search on previous posts within this forum re. bushes - the price seems excessive.
While your at it I suggest you get the polyurethane bushes from Powerflex rather than the OEM parts.

My mechanic told me it was possible as a diy - but would be a long process, any garage should have the specialist equipment to carry out the replacement for you.

good luck

See my posting marked 'rear suspension arm bushes'. I watched the mechanic do virtually the entire job. Took him 2-2.5 hours.
He did have to cut the old bushes out on some of them because the press wouldn't get them out. He didn't use any really fancy equipment but to DIY i'd guess you'd need 4 hours minimum and some pretty heavy duty kit.
Getting the new 'powerflex' bushes in seemed straightforward. I'm no mechanic though - I just paid up and watched...
