I've had a '97 2.0 l for 3 years, so I may have some useful experience.
By that age it should have had a cam belt and a set of plugs.
If the mileage is correct, then it's low, so expect the exhaust to have suffered.
Front tyres wear on the inside edge if under inflated or if the allignment is wrong.
If the wipers are eratic on intermittent (get 3 inches up the screen, then stop, then 3 inches then stop) then that's £240 parts plus labour for a new wiper motor.
Of course, the AA or RAC can look at it for you and you've got somewhere to go back to if anything falls off it...
