When it goes it goes......
Well it had to happen sooner or later! Had an appointment in Nottingham which is about 100 miles away. Set off in good time, had a great drive through, a good meeting and then....
Mrs Punts was driving (blame free I hasten to add) when the revs just started to drop every time the gears were changed. As a consequence the car stalled, the power steering went and the brakes did too. We were literally fifteen metres from the slip road joining the M1. Fortunately we managed to pull out of the way but would the car start again? Silly question! She fired up perfectly, everything was fine from that point of view but there was a problem somewhere. She kept on stalling like a virgin on the big night (allegedly)!
We called BLS in Lincoln to see if they could offer any advice and they diagnosed the Idle Control Valve.
One AA call and an exorbitant £165 (non member) fee later Mr AA came, asked what the problem was and on BLS' advice fixed it in minutes!
So thanks once more to BLS, they are the Masters of all things Alfa.
And a warning too: Never let your beautiful, classy Bella fool you into any kind of false sense of security. Amazing machines though they are they won't let you down on your doorstep but will wait until you are stranded a godzillion miles away where the sheep have never even heard of Alfa Romeo. Then and only then will they develop a simple problem which will still effectively render them useless. In turn this will result in you telling said Bella that she is going to be sold and replaced with a Mitsubishi. I think I may have hurt her feelings but she took it to heart because she feels newly invigorated.
I love my GTV.
And I mean it.
