Basically I had to brake real hard the other day and as a result there was a pretty severer judder.. now I've not had a car with ABS before and I know that it can cause a bit of this.. but can anyone tell if if this is to be expected or not??
talking or brakes. I was over taking a boy racer in his gold GTI, thing up a hill last night, as when i got passed him there was a car doing 40MHP, theres me putting all my 14-15 Stone in the pedal and i was not slowing down, i was going 90mhp the golf seemed to brake a lot better than me, BUT i can go quicker, Brakes Who needs them. Now the pedal goes right down to the floor. Not good.
Time for new pads and Discs i think.
Which ones do you lot think would be worth getting? i can't aford too much as this week or so i need to get the beast serviced and MOT and an exhaust.
If you can afford, then get the grooved and drilled beauties from AO shop, with fast road pads. If not, then Rick swears by Ferodo DS2000 pads (bloody Magic apparently )
I just replaced the front discs and pads on mine with AP ones, standard road spec ones, and I've been very impressed with them. Cost me about £120 all in I think. Maybe slightly less.
I even put the 'bloody magic' bit for you, and you still had to come on here and post something
How the hell am I supposed to catch up with you?
Do you know I stayed at exactly 1704 posts behind you for four days last week? I kept checking it in the morning. But I had a four day weekend, couldn't post much coz home connection is knob, and now you're 1900 ahead. It's just not fair frown
Not posted before, but i've been looking at the forum for a few months since getting my 2002 V6.
From my experience the DS2500 is basically an updated version of the DS2000. Both are excellent pads, so long as you also use a good brake fluid.
The DS3000 is a race pad and I'd be very careful about using it on a road car. Not because its too hard but when the pads get hot they emit metallic sparks, which can destroy the look of alloys and the sides of a car. Just ask some of the Subaru Impreza P1 owners who upgraded their brakes with an official upgrade and needed new wheels and re-sprays ! But maybe Ferodo have changed the pad material since then.
