I'm currently awaiting delivery of my first Alfa - a W reg 2 litre gtv.

Has anyone found any improvement in using super unleaded as opposed to regular (97 Ron and 95 Ron). I also believe Shell do a 98 Ron - is this any good, or is it all a marketing ploy ?

My car is fine on any of the above, but is definately happiest on Optimax (98 point something RON).

Hello ka65
Welcome to AO!!
Congratulations on the new motor.
Bet you can't wait!!

Personally I have found Super and or Optimax have not been worth the extra money. The Optimax is meant to be good for cleaning out all the fuel system, so I suppose you could treat your new motor to a couple of tanks in case the previous owner was an avid user of BudgetBanger Petrol.

Others will no doubt disagree, so try typing Optimax into the search function (top right) and be bowled over by the amount of rantings and ravings!! (Second only to which oil should you use)
