I have just bought a spider, and i was wondering if anyone can tell me which are the best tyres for this car, we have 'w' rating tyres at the mo, but are considering getting then replaced with 'v' rating when they wear out.
Yes - the ratings are done on the maximum potential speed of your car, and a 2.0 Alfa will only hit 150 if dropped down a mineshaft!
Sometimes though you will find that a certain size is only available in a Z or W rating anyway. As long as you don't go below V, you'll be fine. (Next one down is H - up to 130mph).
This is a handy site to get a prices for tyres - My tyres . Unless you go everywhere like you are on a qualifying lap, just get a decent brand if funds will allow - Dunlop/Continental/Goodyear/Pirelli etc. Michelins are my fave, but I have just managed to shave 0.004 secs off my commute this morning!!
Unidirectional tyres look cool but can be noisy and you can't rotate them from one side of the car to the other all that easily if you need to.
