Welcome to AO!
There is a chap on here called Jamie, who has a Series 4 Spider. I am sure he will impart some words of wisdom, but he's not online at the minute. Plenty of new Spider people too.
What about a classic spider - say early 1970s with slim bumpers??
That's what I fancy one day!

I'm not Jamie, and I can't offer you any advice about a Series 4, but I can chime in here as an older (1973) Spider owner. I don't think it really matters which year you buy, all of them will be sure to put a big smile on your face every time you get behind the wheel. And I'd also be willing to bet that every version has its own little quirks and technical challenges. So take your time, look around, take a few out for a test drive, and buy the one that makes your heart sing without making your wallet bleed.
Welcome to AO, and welcome to the Spider club.
