Hi guys - Happy New Year!!
I don't know if anyone has experienced this before....
On Boxing Day I set the Alarm on my Spider (a metasystem - don't know which model). About an hour later the bloody thing kept going off. When I pressed the button on the key fob it initially failed to disarm, but after a few attempts I managed to disarm it - the LED on the dash initially switched off but then flickered and went to a sort of half-on, half-off state.
I repeatedly re-set the alarm and it repeatedly kept going off. Even when I locked the car with the key, the alarm set itself and then went off (maybe this is a security feature in case you forget to arm it).
Anyway, It was chucking it down all day, and I wonder whether this is a water/electrical problem? I have posted a message before to try and find out the model of my alarm but did not get any replies - does anyone know what metasystem alarm is on a 98 TS Spider LUSSO??? (I can't find it under the bonnet).
Also, the key-fob has three buttons, you can press all three or just the middle one to set??? Is this something to do with being a convertible and having two modes???
Any help identifying the alarm model or diagnosing the problem would be great as when I bought the car the alarm manual was missing.
BTW as it seems with all Alfas the problem has now gone, but I am very worried it will return as I suspect it is unlocking the doors eek! The reason I suspect it is doing this is the following day the printers next door took it upon themselves to push my car forward to fit their van in behind mine
. When I went to check the car in the morning the doors were all open so either they broke in (unlikely) or the alarm opened the doors when it malfunctioned!!!
Frightening or what!
