I think I need new pads on the front (warning light coming on & brake fluid reservoir seems full).
By default I guess I'll just wheel it into an Alfa dealership & let them do their stuff, but I'd be interested in better pads & disks.
I don't want to go crazy (new calipers, etc) but if there's a cheap way to get better brakes, I'm all for it.
I have Ferodo DS2000 pads and disks on my 145 Cloverleaf. (Same engine and similar weight to your GTV). They have much more "bite" than the standard items, and inspire much more confidence when pressing on. The standard ones seemd to wilt after a while! The Ferodo DS2000 are not too extreme so are OK when cold too - not at their best , but OK, so you won't sail out of the end of your drive on a cold morning!!
Have a look at http://www.ferodo.co.uk and go to "High Performnce".
I have just had red-dot 6 groove discs + pads put on
and I'm very happy with them, much better than standard.
£400 for discs and pads all round I think is good value for money, got them from the AO online shop.
hope this helps.
