I had the unfortunate luck to see a stone hit and crack the windscreen the other day whilst on a motorway. Quite a small crack, so no problem. Called insurance co. and Autoglass were round the next day. The chappie said it was quite small and could repair so I agreed, especially as he said the windscreen supplied was aftermarket.
Anyway the repair didn't take and the crack has got slightly longer, so Autoglass are coming back to replace.
Question is (and sorry to rattle on) Do I insist on an original Alfa screen or do I fit an aftermarket part..?? Has anyone ever had to replace a windscreen on their GTV or Spider.
Its quite true that some aftermarket glass is poor quality. But having dealt with people in Autoglass`s technical dept,as a suppier, they take quality quite seriously.I would expect their glass to match the OE glass in terms of quality.Unfortunately it will more likely have their logo on it rather than Alfa Romeo. The important thing is that the fitter installs it correctly. If you can, get it installed at their depot inside rather than have a mobile guy do it outside.
