Red Key Hell!!
My 2001 Spider has been off the road a month. I'm at breaking point! I bought the car when it was two years old and never received a brown key, just the red key and an additional scorpion alarm control.
My wife has lost this said red key. I've been told my options are:
1. Buy new Alfa ECU, locks and ignition with new keys.
2. Attempt to get the existing ECU decoded.
3. Get scrap parts.
4. Chase down brown key... tried and failed!
The car is 8 years old now and a grand+ on new parts kills me. I've been told that the ECU cant be decoded for this model. Anyone know if this is true (even if it could I still wouldn't have a key!!)
So scrap looks like my best option. So far I have dealt with more clowns than I care ot metion who can supply me with "an ecu and locks", failing to comprehend that they need to match up!
If anyone has any bright ideas or locations I could try for reliable parts it would be greatly appreciated. My summer holiday is booked and I need the car pretty soon for the ferry trip!
