145 engine in my gtv

ive just picked up a lovely blue gtv ts...
the engine has been left to run dry and obviously the bottom end has gone.
now, i have the chance of a cheap 145 cloverleaf. and wanted to know when changing over the engines is it easier to remove the engine and box in one piece from the gtv and swap in the whole unit from the 145..
or leave in the box on the gtv and just swap the engines?
what do people usually do on these cars..

Generally engines come out from the top, so I'd guess you have to split the engine and gearbox.

Having said that, when they build the car, the engine and gearbox go in together, from underneath.

Depends what equipment you have, I suppose... but if it was me, I'd split the gearbox anyway, so I could stick a new clutch in there at the same time.

Change the cam-belt, balance belts and tensioner while the beast is out of the engine bay too.. Saves doing it again for a very long time.

GTV ts

cheers guys, i have a hoist, and the belts and clutch have been done recently. so i guess ill just split the engine and box and swap out the engines.
saves removing the gear linkages shafts etc etc..

take lot out through the top and then split the box you will find the box on the GTV is slightly differant when you have them side by side it is the gear linkage fitment where the change is and the balls where the linkage attaches to are differant sizes
