I kind of in between an e30 325i sport or a good e36 coupe BMW AND the Alfa Romeo GTV V6. If there is anything you can say in helping me choose say it now, there is an R reg BMW 325 Mtec coupe for sale a couple miles from me...
This is going to be hard
R reg will be a 323i Coupe.
Ive owned a E30 325i and a E36 328i Sport.
All very different cars.
The E30's are great car but they rot full stop.
Also all of them will have some form of structural rust thats either hiding or been repaired in the past.
Dont get me wrong, we owned one for 3 1/2 years and it was a great car but they are a big step back in refinement from todays cars and as an everyday car its something to think about.
The E36, i absolutely loved mine to bits.
Possibly the best car ive owned in terms of does everything very well and does nothing badly.
The only reason i sold it was that mine was an autobox and despite being a great combination with the straight 6 on the daily grind, when driving at anything over 8/10ths it became a bit of a guessing game as to when it would engage the lower gear if you stirred the box manually.
I go to the Ring a couple of times a year and it would have driven me crazy out there, in reality i should have sold my Missus's car and given her the E36 as she loved it to bits.
Bottom line is they are all good cars, if you insist on an E36 then the 328i Sport is the only one to go for other than an M3 but get an original non chaved up one.
Most have rotten rear arches and most have some form of bling wheels fitted by now as the BBS RC 041's are frowned upon by some refurbers.
Insist on finding an unmolested example with the correct BBS RC wheels and they are cracking cars.
A very close call to the Alfa GTV V6, the Alfa has a bit more character in its design and looks, both are great drivers cars only a good test drive of them will rule out one or the other!.
