Colour coding skirts

Hi peeps,

another question, sure one of you has the answer.

On my GTV but the bottom skirts are matt black and I was wondering if you can have the originals painted or if I need to buy pre coloured ones? (had 2 different stories from 2 different garages)

Lets face they look better with one solid colour, the black ruins the lines.

Im pretty sure a lot of body parts come as standard black so you should be able to get them sprayed. A few years back I bought wing mirrors for my 33 and they were matt black so I had to get them painted red to match the body.

Failing that, you may be able to pick up some side skirts from someone breaking alfas, could work out cheaper.
Try . They've always got plenty of alfas breaking.

Hi Jefro

You can have the side-skirts painted. The bodyshop will use a special primer, something that allows the paint to stick to the surface. Normal primer and paint will soon peel off. Its quite common so not sure why you've had different opinions, perhaps one didnt want to do it!!

A guy who bought his pre 98 Spider second hand at our local dealer had this done.As Wrinx says the bodyshop will probably use a special etch primer to get the paint to adhere to the plastic.
