we have three cars in our household - I have the GTV and a laguna, wife has a Qashqai. What is the best way to insure these? I found that my insured NCB can only apply to one of my cars so cost me £550 to insure the Renault.
Personally I'd play around on Admiral's website and get a mulitcar quote.
Alot depends on mileage and type of car. For instance on the site it asks for the main car. Always put the Laguna rather than the Qashqai. It'll be a lower insurance group. Put your wife (who hopfully doesn't have any points) down as the main driver you as an occasional user, ditto the qashqai and then reverse it for the GTV being the third.
With regards to mileage, if you limit these cars to 5,000, 5,000 and say 3,000 respectively you get a good credit.
Once all this is sorted and if you like the number then if your first car is renewing now they will give you a pro rata'd price for the rest of the year on the other two and will dovetail their renewals with the natural expiration of their individual policies.
You can play around until your hearts content to get the best match/fit for price so don't be put off by all the questions you have to type in.
It does pay to shop around individually, I never bother with Direct line or Tesco or any price comparison website's as the price comparison stuff is all a big con (What you think they do it for free!) If you type in all your details on there and then go direct to one of the listed insurers, the original insurer always come out cheaper.
I treat all insurance companies with the utmost contempt knowing how they operate, so if an hour of your time means they get less money then it has to be worth it.
Oh and a word of warning the reason Elephant are so cheap is because they offer the most limited coverage out of all the majors...read your policy wording...
