Having just done an engine transplant on my 2TS, I'm putting the "gubbins" back on. Starting from the front there is air intake, air filter the size of a dustbin, maf, temperature sensor, big box that looks like some kind of plenum chamber and sits alongside and partially underneath the coolant header tank, piece of ducting, throttle body.
Question is, what is the big box? If I put my VIN into Eper it shows up on page 10233/1, but when I look at the factory repair manual, it doesn't exist!
Also, what effect would just dumping it and replacing with straight through, as in repair manual, have?
Handy hint - if you use a donor engine from a car that didn't have aircon, clean up the mounting holes for the compressor bracket BEFORE fitting the engine, or you will spend half an hour trying to fit an unbelievably heavy lump of cast iron before realising the problem is years of non-use have rendered the threads unreceptive to bolts. OK, take the just fitted exhaust and oil filter cooler pipe back off to get in with a (M10 x 1.25) tap to revive them
