Can some one give me advice on my 1997 2.0 TS GTV?
I have had the car for about 8 months and 3 weeks ago when I switched the engine off I heard a gurgling from under the bonnet, on closer inspection I found the water system was full of emulsified oil and the dipstick was nearly dry.
I made what I thought was an informed decision and assumed the head gasket had gone or the head had cracked. I found a cheap head on ebay which had been removed from a running engine, got it skimmed and valves reground but not pressure tested.
After reassembling the engine I ran it a couple of times to clear the cooling system of emulsified oil, it didnt completely clear but it was better so I took the car out for a drive for about an hour and when I got back to my horror
the water was full of emulsified oil again and the dipstick was down about one litre of oil.
Obviously my question is , is there anything else it could be other than a cracked block, which I dont want to hear?
I've done a few head gaskets before so I'm not a virgin to the procedure.
From my previous experience its unusual the water getting into the oil not the other way round but I dont know what to assume from this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
