General GTV info/advice

My 156 is currently in the garage after someone ran into the back of me, and of course i've been fearing the worst and looking at new cars if they write it off

Seen some nice gtvs on the internet, what are the pitfalls/things to look out for when buying a GTV?

I've got the 2.0TS enging in my 156, I know its the same engine in the GTV (for the money I can afford anyway), but does it feel any different?

Many thanks for the advice!

Re: General GTV info/advice

Best advice is to read the " Sticky " at the top of this Lounge.

You'll know all about the TS engine so the other things you need to be aware of is suspension problems and of course the usual electrical glitches that look easy and cheap to fix until.............

Whether or not the TS feels any different in a GTV than it does in a 156 I have no idea as have never driven a 156.

Hope you find what you want.

i have a 156 selespeed and a Spider, the spider feels a lot sharper to drive and a little more responsive, but that could be down to gearing though

Re: General GTV info/advice

Go out and drive a couple is the easiest way of making your own opinion's, but the ride in a Gtv is much firmer, it does feel more responsive and the gear ratio's are shorter than the 156.
As much as i love the 156, the Gtv easily won when it came to replacing my 2.0ts 156.

Make sure you drive at speed, listening for whistling from the windows. Turn the wheel from lock to lock listening for grinding noises. Check that the aircon runs OK
