Re: Variator tool TS
this isn't a dig at the OP more a generalisation....
Specialist tools are on the who there to make the job easier, any garage worth their salt will have tools to do the job in hand, but i have heard so many garages get involved in jobs only to realise theyhave bitten off more than they can choose, and i have seen them call the customer and give them some **** and bull story about the car being broken before hand, this excuse has been used where 'professional garages' have messed it up
for an outlay of less than £100 in specialist tools it is possible to save £1000's of pound worth of damages and tears.
I have lost count the time i have seen comments like 'well he's a garage he knows what he's doing' on forums i have frequented, sometimes followed by a post that reads.... 'My garage have ruined XXXXX' due to non use of specialist tools.
at the risk of sounding patronsing, bite the bullet and have all the belts, water pump and variator done, complete piece of mind and if you do come to sell the car in the near future it is also a way of asking a stronger price.
