Re: Fuel Injection Warning Light
Unfortunately I have got a problem with my recently purchased Alfa GTV 2.0 TS '95. Occasionally the fuel injection warning light will come on and then the car will loose the power followed by exploding sound from the exhaust. If I restart the car the problem normally goes away as well as the warning light. Does anyone experienced this problem?
The 'injector' light is a bit of funny one- really it just means random engine management fault. On the V6 the fault you mention sounds very much like throttle problems- usually the throttle wire connectors rather than the actual throttle pot. Be very wary of any garage that tells you its the actual throttle pot as that is expensive and probably wont fix the problem. If it is the throttle (u need diagnostics) get it to a specialist who knows GTVs and knows about throttle connectors- usually you just need to get the connectors hardwired and dispense with the junction boxes - but depending on where it is in the circuit, access can be a difficult so most of the cost is labour.
Not sure how much of that translates to the TS though.
If you are in the North / Midlands I can recommend a place that knows this problem well - hes fixed mine twice without replacing the throttle pot, try Peak Alfa and speak to Roger. In the South just ask on here for a recommendation. Avoid main dealers like the plague. Good luck.
