I have a V reg early phase GTV 2.0 TS Lusso, which I bought used 20 or so months ago. Unfortunately when I bought it (from an independent dealer), I was not given the 'master key' and didn't know I should have asked for one.
Now the rubber button on the key for the immobiliser, alarm and central locking has perished and the little sliding button inside snapped.
I've bought a new 'red key' with the rubber button/remote and had it cut already but I'm now told that the early phase cars cannot easily be re-encoded without the master key!
Therefore I need to replace the ECU, locks, key code box and get a master key (at least so that I can copy it off), ideally with 1 remote key and 1 'basic' key. This is about £1000 at the dealers!!
I have found this on eBay:
...but am not sure it's quite the right thing, because from the photos it looks like the alarm remote is a separate black box on the keyring? Is this the case on "some" early phase GTV's? Would it be possible to still code the internal key switch?
I have put a photo of my main key (not the "brown" master I don't have, but the one I used for remote) here if it helps: http://www.designermark.biz/alfa/Alfa-Romeo-GTV-key.jpg
Can anyone point me toward somewhere I could get hold of the complete set I need, or advise as to whether that eBay listing is approriate?
Many thanks for reading this far!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
