V6 Cambelt / Tensioner

My V6 has a slight whine from the Cam Belt side of the engine, which i thought was the auxillary belt, but I am now concerned it may be the tensioner on the cambelt.

I have been told something about the temperature compensation in the tensioner may not have been set correctly? this part allows for adjustment when the engines expands due to temperature whilst in use?? does this make sense at all?

Unfortunate thing is the belt / tensioners were done at an Alfa garage about 3 yrs ago, i have had the car a year. Its only done around 10k on the current belt.

dont want to use it till i know what it is, so any help is appreciated.
