Discs warping revisited
I have nasty brake vibration which everyone seems convinced is warped discs. Now this caused some argument on here with people claiming disc warping didnt happen and that it was really uneven pad deposits on the disc. Either way, the GTV is very prone to this problem- drive it around a track once, or drive hard on the road and the discs will 'warp'. I have heard from specialists and racers who seem to think the discs are too small and thin, and this warping also happens with vented / grovved discs or uprated discs of the same size- and that the only way to fix this is to fit GTA brakes.
At about 1000 quid I cant afford the GTA conversion. So, I dont want to change to standard OEN discs (the last ones warped in a few weeks) but is there any point in trying something like red dot or alfaholics discs? Anyone found aftermarket discs less resistant to warping?
And if 'warping' is in fact uneven pad deposits on the discs, does the disc itself make any difference by being thicker or bigger?
Is the problem with the pads?
Or should i just skim my discs?
Any thoughts appreciated.
