Gear knob help
I have removed the lift up Momo gear knob to try to put back the original leather one.....when I removed the knob underneath is the grooved end of the gearstick and on that are two springs, one tightly coiled and another looser one. I think the looser one goes on first and the tighter one sits above that (as resistance for the lower one to provide the spring action for the lift up reverse)......when I look underneath the old leather gearknob it is just an empty space with the locating tube for the gearstick) - when I slide the gearknob onto ther stick it wobbles about and if I try to push it down too far to secure it, it prevents the lift up reverse working as the spring has not got enough space to travel......I am stuck - did the original leather gearknob come in two pieces (e.g. knob and then some sort of plastic spacer) as I only have the one piece - the knob itself. Will try and take some photos.
