Shortly after buying my GTV I posted on here asking about help with the injector light coming on, and misfire etc.
I thought I`d post the following in case it helps anyone else.
Well, since then the following was discovered.
The temperature sender to the ECU was giving no reading, which was due to degraded insulation on it`s wiring. This led the ECU to over fuel and then show as a fault due to unburnt fuel when engine was hot.
So wiring fixed, new O2 sensor, car ran even worse!!
In the mean time MAF found to be faulty also.
Luckily, during installation of MAF a split was found in the intake hose, so this was rectified.
Mechanic summised that with the faulty sender (making the ECU overfuel) and the split air intake faulty MAF tending to make the engine run lean, beside the odd splutter, the engine ran surprisingly well.
The whole experience has cost a few bucks, but she runs well now, and hopefully will for the foreseeable.
Thanks to all who pointed me in the right direction.
