Brake failure on setting out in the morning!
For the past 2 mornings, on driving my car out of its nice warm garage, the brakes didn't work driving down the ramp. This is a bit worrying as I have a barrier at the bottom of my ramp!
Here is the process; I start up the car, no lights on the dash. I release handbrake, slow 1st gear down the ramp, touch the brake pedal, no initial response. The pedal travel is minimal and hard. I press harder on the pedal, still hard and minimal travel, and this time the brakes 'just' about work, stopping me before I hit the barrier. So, I tentativelt drive onwards,m and the brakes are fine, normal travel and normal 'feel'. No further issues in either morning journey to work.
Having searched a bit on the site, I haven't seen anything that meets this particular example, and it would appear that the cause is not air in the system. The reservoir is topped up and no fluid has been added in the 7 months I have owned the car, so there are no leaks.
Any clues? It only happens at the start of a journey, and doesn't re-occur.
