immobiliser - key code light
About the problem wit the key code light not turning off, i finally reached a point of decision.
I went today to the garage to have the battery replaced, hoping that it would solve the problem, and the guy said my batery is 75%ok, so it has nothing to do with the problem. He advised me an electronics specialist.
I Went over to that place and the guy over there said they would take the computer (i guess ecu) out and send to somewhere , where the part related to the immobiliser will be disabled.(taken out?)
He said this is a common problem with the italian cars, and he does this all the time.
Also he mentioned that it would cost me sth around 450 euros(around 400 pounds)
Now, I am not sure to do this procedure because it is a one way street.
The problem witht the key code is frustrating, but he says this is the only permanent solution I can get.
One other problem is, in case of theft, breaking in ,the insurance companies dont pay if they find out that the car has no immobiliser.
What do you guys think about it? I will try to live with disconnecting battery for 10 min, and all other kind of magic stuff when the key code light doesnt turn off, but lately it is really frequent.
Has anybody heard sth about this before?
I dont want to sell my GTV!!!!
As always, thanks for any comments.
