Well I'm now officially not an Alfa Owner.
I bought a metallic black V6 4Motion Golf on Sunday. 80k, £3100, flawless condition. I'm gonna say some nice things about it but first let me make it absolutely clear that it hasn't got half the soul my Alfa has. Er, had.
It's as quick as my Gtv was (or feels it) and produces more torque from lower rpm. Cornering is, frankly, incredible. Alright, the Gtv corners superbly with no fancy aids, but this Golf has some sort of stability control - if it understeers into a corner, for example, it brakes the inside rear wheel and diverts more power to the outside rear wheel, straightening the nose. Pretty clever stuff. All wheel drive yields an amazing performance off the line too. Plus I thrashed it to Brighton and back last night and got 29mpg, which is better than my Gtv achieved being driven reeeeaaaally carefully.
I'm still getting another Gtv next year though
There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Those that can read binary, and those who can't.

Gone but sorely, sorely missed:
Meteor Grey Gtv Lusso | 17" Teledials | Bilstein rear shocks | Ragazzon straight thru s/s centre exhaust | Some crappy Halfords air filter. Perfect condition and still 220bhp after 95k
