Starts with 3
On my TS Spider I have a misfire when the car is first started.
On first turn of the key the engine fires then stalls. On the second turn it starts but only runs on 3 cylinders. It usually takes less than a minute before it starts to run smoothly on all four cylinders.
I thought it may have been dampness at the spark plugs and so removed the coil packs. No 1 spark plugs were almost completely immersed in oil (I assume the previous owner was not very careful in topping up the oil). I sucked out the oil with a syringe and then removed all spark plugs and cleaned them. I then replaced the plugs and the coil packs with some WD-40 to dispell any moisture.
There is no sign of any oily smoke and so I am assuming that it is not oil leaking down the valve guides.
The problem is still there. Could the immersion of two of the plugs in warm oil have caused any damage to them?
Is there anything else that I should be looking at?
The car has done 46k miles.
I guess this problem could equally afflict a 156, 147 etc, but I thought I would try here first.
