Sounds like the locks are out of sync due to them being frozen, not unusual I'm afraid. Best advice to prevent reoccurring is to liberally apply silicon grease/ WD 40 to the locks, in the keyhole and around the button.
The following procedure should get you back to normal but don't try it until the locks/doors have completely unfrozen. If this one doesn't work do a search " door locks sync " or similar and you'll find other info concerned with remote central locking, alarms and locks and so on.
Sit in the car and lock the drivers door manually by pushing the button down, then open the door. This should then unlock the passenger door also. If not try opening the passenger door from inside. This is a common problem on GTV's.
