Re: i need link for v6 thermostat

You have to remuve the intake pipeing if you have the original one. Then move away little black box with some el. connections inside.

The unscrew three bolts that hold the termostat in place

Remove the old thermostat and clean the casing of any sealant or other stuff.

I've put a thin layer of sealant on the new casing with thermostat (on alfas you are never too careful about leaks hehe)

Than put all back in place in reverse.

Be gentle with three screws not to tighten them too much.

Sorry for my weird english

Re: i need link for v6 thermostat

What a coincidence. I have just changed my thermostat today and can confirm what Alan says - great pictures by the way.

I would also recommend buying a new gasket (only a pound or so). I smeared both sides of the gasket with silicone grease just to ensure a good seal.

This took about a quarter of an hour.

I also thought I would change the coolant as this has not been done for at least 3 years. The only way I could drain the water was by taking off the bottom hose - to get at this I had to take out the MAF and airbox. So the total job took about 3 hours.

On my old 1974 Alfa I can drain the radiator by removing one plug in the radiator, job done in 10 minutes. I guess this is progress!

Re: i need link for v6 thermostat

I did mine today aswell. I could also just undo the drain plug in my '76 alfa! except for the time it snapped off and I had to weld it back on.

FYI I ordered a thermostat from an Alfa dealer and I didn't get a gasket. I bought some grey silicone (loctite) gasket sealer in Halfrauds. The blue one didn't list thermostats on the back but they grey one did......
