Oddity of differing temperature readings....
Well, since the cold snap started, my temp gauge rarely gets anywhere near to the second mark (presumably 80 Degrees), except when in town traffic, where it hovers on said 80 mark. Normally, on the motorway, it sits a little above the 50 mark.
Now, the oddity is that I know the guage works properly, because in the autumn months, the gauge would sit around 90 degrees, and the fan worked properly (and still works). And, if you let it sit for 20 - 30 minutes, the temp will creep up to a little under 90 and remain constant.
The A/C of course is on fairly constantly (due to the poor demisting efforts from the standard air), but I have experimented with it off, and it makes no difference to the temperature.
My GTV is a 2 litre V6 Turbo BTW, but that should make no difference to the temp readings, should it?
I thought that cars regulate the temperature to keep it remaining fairly constant, so what should I look at on mine? I would not want to keep running it at low temps (60 D on the motorway for example), as I hear that isn't good for the engine.....
